With Christmas right around the corner, I’ve been keeping my eye out for super cute DIY gift ideas. Today I came across an idea that I really like! I just had to try it out so that I could pass it along to y’all!
Now you should definitely customize this little gift idea to suit the lucky person who will be receiving it! Paint the lid to match their home decor. Choose a stamp with their initials on it, or something that person enjoys… like flowers, or birds, or a fun quote.
Here are a few different pictures of the finished product to give you some inspiration and direction…
Okay, here’s what you’ll need…
- Some mason jar lids – If you don’t have any around the house, you can pick up a pack of 12 for about $2.50 at bed bath and beyond.
- Cork – You can find it in sheets, or pre-cut circles and squares. Either way, it will need to be cut to size.
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Paint – Only if you want to. That’s totally up to you!
- A stamp of your choosing
- A stamp pad with permanent ink
Start by laying the inner part of your lid on to the cork and tracing the circle. Even if you do find the pre-cut round pieces of cork, you will still need to cut them because the pre-cut circles are too large for your lids. Here’s a pic of round and square…
When you’re finished tracing your lid, cut out your circle.
Next, use your hot glue gun to glue the inner disk part of the lid into the outer ring of your lid. Like this…
If you want to paint your lid, now’s the time…
Go ahead and stamp your round pieces of cork with whatever design you have chosen.
Once the ink is completely dry, go ahead and glue it inside the top of your lid.
Now give that awesome gift to a good friend, and the two of you can go out on the porch and enjoy a nice cold drink! Happy Holidays!!
