Here’s a little make over project I did a few months back. Sorry I’m just now getting around to posting it! I love waking up to the smell of freshly brewing coffee in my bedroom!
I had been talking about wanting a coffee station in our master bedroom for months. We had been shopping around for the perfect piece of furniture, looking at bar carts, buffet cabinets, etc… I couldn’t find anything that really fit the bill. So, one day Stephen comes home from work with an old tea cart. He said someone was just giving it away, so he figured he may as well bring it home and see if I could make it work. Score!! Nice work, babe!
Here’s a picture of what the cart looked like when he gave it to me…
I didn’t take pictures during the process. I’m sorry! I hate when I forget to do that… but the process was pretty straight forward.
I did NOT sand the cart. I used TSP like I always do. Then I chose a paint color to match our bedroom set. I used matte finish and DRY BRUSHED the entire cart. That’s how you get the streaky look. After the paint dried, I rubbed on a coat of Minwax paste finishing wax. I removed the wheels and spray painted them Rust-Oleum Chalked matte grey. Then I used our Silhouette vinyl cutter to add the decal to the front of the cart.
Underneath the cart, I added a mini fridge to hold my creamer. I got mine at jet.com, but you can find them all kinds of random places. What good is it to have my coffee in my master suite if I still have to run down to the kitchen to grab my creamer?!
On top I put a small, Farberware 5 cup coffee maker with a timer so I can set it to brew at 7am to wake me up.
Thats it, pretty straight forward! As always, please comment or message me if you have any questions. We’re always happy to hear from you! You can also find us on Instagram @Humble.Home, on Pinterest as HumbleHome, and on Facebook @HumbleHomeDesign.
