Simple St. Patrick’s Day Decorating Ideas!

Wanna impress your friends big time with your unparalleled domestic goddess skills?!?!  Try out these easy and adorable ideas that I found while scouring the web this morning…

How cute and simple is this mantel decor?!  It’s nothing more than burlap, yarn and paint!

To replicate the picture on the left:

  • Go buy yourself a plain white frame (matting already included). Stephen found some 11×14’s matted to 8×10 for $9 at Michael’s.  You get whatever size you want to fill the space you’re decorating.
  • Cut a piece of burlap to fit your frame.
  • Cut a small circle out of a sponge.
  • Dip the sponge into some gold paint to make your polka dots.
  • Glue green ribbon to the polka dot painted burlap to spell out the word “lucky”. Side note – I know not everyone has beautiful penmanship and may not excel at this step. For y’all, a great way to modify this would be to cut out a big clover (or buy one already cut out) and glue that sucker smack-dab in the middle of your picture!
  • Stick it into your white frame and you’re finished with the picture on the left!  Congrats!

To replicate the picture on the right:

  • Start again with your plain white frame.
  • Cut a piece of burlap to fit your frame.
  • Measure and tape off your stripes.
  • Use a paintbrush and green paint to fill in the stripes.
  • Wait about 10 minutes, then remove the tape.
  • Make sure it’s completely dry before putting your new work of art into the frame. Voila!  You’ve done it!

The jars:

  • Buy or find some random jars. They don’t even have to match, in my opinion. I think they might even look cooler if there was some variation. Spray paint them gold. Easy-peasey!  That’s all there is to that!

Making the flags:

  • Again, cut your burlap into triangles. Make sure they are all exactly the same.
  • Use your tape and paintbrush to make the green stripes.
  • Use your sponge and gold paint to make your polka dots.
  • Make a small hole in the upper two corners of each flag.
  • String them onto your green yarn.
  • Hang them up, and you’re finished!

Next let’s check out this cute door hanger…

This is another idea that couldn’t be more simple. Just cut some clovers out of various St. Patrick’s Day themed scrapbook paper and glue the little letters on. You can find letters like this in the scrapbooking section also. Some of them are even adhesive!  It doesn’t get any easier than that! Glue your clovers to your ribbon and hang it on your door. Done and done!  You’re welcome!  Lol!
