Quick Ottoman Update…

I don’t have a lot of time today, but I haven’t posted in a few days, so I wanted to show you guys a quick easy project I finished this morning.  Here’s the before and after…

I liked the dark brown leather covers just fine, but then my husband bought a cognac colored leather recliner from Pottery Barn and the mismatched leather really started bothering me.  I wanted something different, so I thought I’d try covering them with feed sacks.  You can find a huge selection of cool burlap sacks at OnlineFabricStore.net for about $15 a piece.

There’s not a whole lot to explain here.  All you need is a drill or a screwdriver, a staple gun, and a pair of sharp scissors…

Just use your  drill or screwdriver to unscrew the cushion from the base. I didn’t even remove the old leather covering.  I just wrapped the feed sack right over the top of the old cover and used the staple gun to hold it in place. After that I trimmed the extra fabric with the scissors.  I left about 2 inches of extra fabric beyond the staples just to be sure the feed sack doesn’t unravel and come loose from the staples.  Last but not least, I used the drill to reattach the base to the cushion frame and flipped it back over.

Here’s a few more pix just for fun!
